The weather can get in the way!

How many times have you planned an event, gone somewhere thinking the weather would be “ok”, or had to cancel something last minute due to the weather? More than you want to think about. Why not have an upper-hand with the weather and know what to expect.

Here is just a short list of people and professions that would benefit from freehand forecasting.

1. Outdoor event personnel

What do I do?  The weather online said only a 10% chance of rain!

If I go ahead and set up everything, caters and all, and it pours, I’ll look bad, and it’ll cost me a lot!

On the other hand, If I go light and do the minimum, I’ll look bad!

They said 10% but I don’t know, something says it’s going to pour!

2. Campers, hikers, boaters,

All packed up and ready to go. This is going to be a great event.

It’s been great weather all week and the TV said another couple of days.

The wind is calm today and the clouds are those high ones and none of those fair-weather clouds.

I’m a bit worried!

3.  Groundskeepers

Take care of the lawns, tend some of the gardens, do equipment upkeep, or repaint the gazebo?

It’s a long week and where should I start? How long before this great weather goes away?

4. Hunters, fishers, trappers

How much did it snow, or rain in the mountains?

Fishing in the streams will be poor if the r stream/river is high!

Will you be able to make camp? Will you be able to track? Will the pass be clear enough to get through?

How about the next few days or more? What’s the weather going to be like?

5. Bikers, marathon runners

Too hot? Too wet? Heavy rain? Do you trust what the TV guy said?

6. Road crews

Yea! You got to be out there, but what do you wear and what do you bring.

Rain? Snow? Cold? Hot? Wind? Would be nice to know!

And! What about if the weather changes? Do you have a clue to the potential of a changing forecast?

7. Bus, Taxi, and Shuttle drivers

So! Do I push to get everyone ready to go?

Will I need to alter my route?

Should I carry the chains, pack extra provisions?

Will the weather stay the same for the whole trip?

8. Food vendors, roadside attractions

Should I set out the awning?

How much water should I plan on?

Will people want more hot food or cold drinks?

How much of my wares should I put out? I might have to pack up quick if a storm comes up!

9. Carnival, and revival personnel

Normal ten setup or extra tie downs?

Advertise for a single day or for several days?

Open up early, close early?

10. Anyone wanting to “not get stuck”

Looks like a great day for that ride in the country!

Should I go to that picnic or stay home in the air conditioning?

Why did I decide to go camping this weekend?
